Keeping Time is available in two versions:
1) Keeping Time (nicknamed "Local") is installed via an installer and writes its settings into the user's AppData folder.
2) Keeping Time Portable is a fully portable application and does not require any installation. It does not write anything to your machine outside of the folder you extract it into and wherever you choose to save your files. It creates no entries in the Windows registry, either.

The Installation process depends on the version you choose:
1. Download Keeping Time
To get Keeping Time running, just download the newest version from the Download page. You can choose the regular installer, or the portable version.
Your browser might complain about unknown software and warn you to discard the file. See Browser Warning for details. This is a false positive - feel free to run the file through any virus scanner!
2. Use the Installer/Extract the zip file
If you are using the installer, just start it and follow the installation assistant. You can choose a folder to install to and whether to create a desktop icon or not.
To "install" Keeping Time Portable, all you need to do is extract the downloaded zip file into any empty folder of your choosing. The folder needs to have writing permissions, because Keeping Time writes its preferences in there. You can choose any folder, anywhere.
2a. Updating from an earlier version
If you have a previous version of Keeping Time, simply run the installer (regular version), or extract all the files into your existing Keeping Time folder and overwrite all files when prompted (portable version). Keeping Time will migrate your old preferences automatically (and tell you if successful or if there was an error).
3. Starting Keeping Time
Use the Start Menu shortcut (regular version) or boldly open the Keeping Time.exe (portable version)! You will be greeted by a short intro message. Close it and you will see the Welcome Center. Here you can adjust settings, open projects, and so on!
Uninstalling Keeping Time
If you want to remove Keeping Time from your system, follow Uninstalling.
