While a lot of applications nowadays use a single window concept, Keeping Time uses dedicated windows for most tasks.
This is on purpose, as it gives you the best flexibility and allows you to use multiple screens, for example.
There are some UI elements and features that most windows within the application share, and which help you find your way around:
Window Focus
Because Keeping Time uses multiple windows, it is important to know which window currently has keyboard focus.
To make this easy to see, there is a small focus strip below the title bar. This strip is light blue whenever a window has focus and grey when it does not have focus.
Online Help
The ? icon in the title bar of most windows will call up the respective help topic in Keeping Time's online help. This feature requires an internet connection and can be switch off in the Settings. If it is switched off, no icon will appear.
Quickstart Tutorials
In most windows, the Q icon will call up a short on-screen tutorial that shows you the workflow of that window. Click it and use the arrow keys to get a tour!
Keyboard Shortcuts
Keeping Time extensively uses keyboard shortcuts. Almost every action can be controlled by keyboard and you can tab through UI elements, too.
Whenever there are shortcuts available, look for the keyboard icon at the top left of the window. This calls up an overlay that shows you a list of all available shortcuts.
